Chris Crutcher, a favorite with teen and adult readers, is the author of fourteen books – eleven novels, two short story collections and an autobiography. Crutcher’s experience as a teacher and family therapist has infused his books with realism as he artfully blends tragedy and comedy into memorable literary works which include Ironman, Deadline and Staying Fat for Sarah Byrnes. He has been awarded the NCTE's National Intellectual Freedom Award, the ALAN Award, ALA's Margaret A. Edwards Lifetime Achievement Award, CLA's St. Katharine Drexel Award and Writer magazine's Writers Who Make a Difference Award.
